Interislander Ferry

Interislander crosses the Cook Strait between the North and South Islands of New Zealand and is considered one of the more spectacular ferry crossings in the world.

It is a 92 km trip between Wellington and Picton which takes about three hours.

Interislander operates three ships to carry both passengers and their vehicles: Arahura, Aratere and Kaitaki.

Internal Flights

Air New Zealand operates internal flights that take you from town to town.

Sounds Air offers a 30 minute flight to take across the Cook Strait and Marlborough Sounds. Its the fast and scenic way to get from Nelson or Picton to Wellington. Enjoy stunning aerial views for great picture opportunities. A free shuttle is provided between the airport and Picton township. This can be combined with a one-way flight and a return ferry for one day trips.

Intercity Coachlines
