Train journeys
The Overlander (Auckland - Wellington - Auckland)
Between Auckland (the City of Sails) and Wellington (the capital city), the Overlander passes through spectacularly scenic farmland.
The train then weaves through the middle of the north island, passing Mt Ruapehu and its volcanic peaks, native forests, raging rivers, sheer cliff faces and gorges.
